Clovelly celebrates its famous sustainably caught lobsters and crabs.  Live folk music, quay kitchens, cookery demonstrations, a magnum of champagne prize draw, delicious lobster and crab dishes, craft stalls and beer tasting.  Plus street theatre, walkabout magic, balloon modelling and craft activities.  In aid of The National Lobster Hatchery, Padstow.

Clovelly was once a centre for herring fishing.  This popular festival celebrates sustainable fishing and herring, the ‘Silver Darlings’ of the sea.  There will be delicious herring specialities, an exhibition of Clovelly herring fishing, cookery demonstrations, live music, street entertainment, local food and craft stalls and face paintings.  Plus net making, Flaxland’s exhibitions and demonstrations and a curragh on show.

Mike Smylie, maritime historian and writer, returns with his ”Kipperland” exhibition, and turn herring into delicious-tasting kippers and bloaters in his smokehouse for sale.

The Christmas lights turn-on is a magical time at Clovelly. 

Starting at 3:30 pm, a local brass band leads the procession down to the harbour with festive carols sung along the way.

A hog roast, grog and other refreshments are available at the harbour and Lifeboat Station.  Then Father Christmas will make a surprise visit.

At 5 pm the switch is thrown and the entire village and harbour are lit up. It’s a fantastic sight and there’s a grand finale of fireworks to finish off.

Entrance fee:  £10 per car at the Visitor Centre after 3 pm.  All proceeds to the RNLI

Boxing Day Barbecue should make the perfect follow-up to Christmas day for all your family and friends. With FREE entrance to Clovelly village all day, take a walk along the estate or explore the village in the morning.  Then come on down to the quay to enjoy a lunch barbecue starting at midday with live music running from 1pm to 3 pm.

The Red Lion serves some great mulled cider and delicious, hot chocolate drinks.

There will be a Land Rover available to take you back up if you do not wish to walk.

A fantastic New Year’s Party will be taking place for both resident and non-resident guests.  You will find it a thrilling way to welcome in the New Year in an atmospheric village setting.

This is probably the most popular course we run here. The May course is sold out so this course is your final oppourtunity to create your own wire hen with Chris Moss.

Wire sculptor, Chris Moss, will be leading this day long course and will expertly guide you through making your own wire hen. It is a perfect step-up for people who have made smaller wire sculptures on the half-day workshops and now wish to make something more challenging, but also suitable for beginners

All materials are provided. Please bring a packed lunch.

Another opportunity to learn how to make a wire blackbird sculpture under the expert guidance of Chris Moss. At the end of this half-day course you will have your own wire blackbird to take home.

These sculptures will be made from galvanised wire, so they will be able to be kept outside without going rusty. Materials and tools will be supplied. Please wear practical clothes (no delicate textiles).

Join garden owner, Vanessa Cook, in the tearoom and courtyard garden where you can enjoy a glass of wine and nibbles and learn about the development and ethos of the garden. Stillingfleet Lodge's annual wildlife day will be on the 30th June 2024, part of National Insect Week. The Art in the Tearoom exhibition in September 2024, features the welcome return of Veronica Orango as she displays her latest works across various media.

With nature as the both a source of inspiration and the driving force of Veronica’s work, her varied work is always popular among our visitors. Nature’s colours and their combinations; the shapes and patterns; the simplicity and complexity of the natural world, in constant change, are represented in her linocuts, woodcuts, etchings and stained glass, examples of which will form this exhibition.

The art exhibitions are located in the tea room and are open to the public during regular garden opening times. Admission to the tea room and art exhibitions are free. The works of art will be available to purchase.

The August 2024 Art in the Tearoon exhibition at Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens features the beautiful prints of Joanna Lisowiec.

She is known for bold style, creating images that focus on the beauty of nature and folklore. Expect detailed, textures and vibrant work from linocuts, drawings and paintings.

The art exhibitions are located in the tea room and are open to the public during regular garden opening times. Admission to the tea room and art exhibitions are free. The works of art will be available to purchase.

Stillingfleet Lodge Garden is open as part of the National Garden Scheme. The NGS is a registered charity and all admission fees on the day plus 10% of money from plant sales will be donated to the charity.

In September the garden is full of colour, with plants in the herbaceous border in full bloom and the trees taking on an autumn tint. Look out for the many butterflies that enjoy this wildlife friendly garden.

Seaweed Festival is held to promote seaweed for its immense health and nutritional benefits.  In a multitude of colours, textures, shapes and sizes, it is tasty, full of minerals, fibre without calories and is the best salt substitute. Along the Quay, there is a surprising amount of dishes and the stalls will be selling a range of seaweed products. The day will be full of fun for all ages and packed with a programme of all sorts of activities, entertainment, and games throughout the day.  Watch the exciting Clovelly Cup yacht race across the bay, starting at 12pm. It is an amazing sight to see the yachts surrounding the harbour and setting off to race across the bay.  Throughout the day there will be live music, Higher being Circus street entertainment, activities and games for the whole family. Linda’s inspiration comes from nature and walking in landscapes world wide. She has been experimenting with painting on real feathers, having seen the indigenous South American people painting on dream catchers. Netherby Hall is home to our annual car show previously sponsored by Aston Martin, The Grange, Edinburgh.

The show is held over two days in August. The Saturday showcases performance cars followed by classic cars on the Sunday.

Netherby Hall has seen the car show for over 7 years now with it growing year on year. Gerald and Margo Smith, owners of Netherby Hall are big car enthusiasts with an impressive car collection themselves so the car show is very dear to their hearts.

Join us for an evening of intrigue at our Murder Mystery Event on Friday 21st June 2024 (7pm).

Play detective for the night and figure out “Whodunnit?” during an evening of twists, turns and intrigue at our ever-popular Murder Mystery event!

Arrive from 7pm to begin an evening of mystery and enigma set in the crime underworld of notorious Birmingham street gang, the Peaky Blinders. Pay close attention those around you and follow the clues to solve the murder mystery whilst enjoying twists, turns and laughs along the way.

Your evening will also include a delicious three-course meal.

Visit RHS Garden Wisley for a special Walkies at Wisley with your four-legged friend. The garden is open from 6pm–8:30pm so you can explore the outdoor areas with your canine companion. Members and dogs go free, non-members £9.25 and £5 (child).
